If you’ve been hanging out with me here since the start of 2025, you know this year’s theme is the “Year of Peace”. Every letter I write to you this year will anchor us in this pursuit of peace, the kind that surpasses all understanding and overflows into every area of our lives.
Today, I want to share a revelation that God gave me back in 2022 that continues to bear fruit years later. As you read this, notice what resonates.
Where there’s resonance, there’s often an opportunity for release.
A few years ago, I found myself navigating a season where my inner peace felt fragile. Like water, constantly slipping through my hands. I couldn’t seem to hold onto it no matter what devotional practices I engaged in.
I often felt disturbed.
Tired.
Restless.
Irritated.
I couldn’t pinpoint what was stealing my peace, but deep down, I knew something wasn’t right. One day, during a time of prayer, I felt a conviction rise in me. God brought to my remembrance a conversation I’d had with a coach a year prior.
I remembered this one question she had asked me:
"What have you been unwilling to do that’s impacting your results?"
At the time, my response was defensive. I responded with a bunch of excuses (that felt very valid at the time), justifying my actions, or lack thereof. But as I relaxed and allowed the Holy Spirit to speak, a greater truth rose to the surface:
Truth is, I had become unwilling to do certain activities in my business because I felt like I had "outgrown" them. With years of experience under my belt, I thought I “shouldn’t have to” do those things anymore.
In that moment, I heard God’s voice clearly say, "Pride."
Sometimes, God will speak to me in full sentences.
Other times, it’s just one word.
I sat there on the call in silence, shocked. How could this be pride and how could it be stealing my peace? As soon as I acknowledged it by speaking it out loud and admitting it rather than denying it, I felt an undeniable wave of peace wash over me. That is the power of humility.
James 4:6 says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
Where pride steals peace, humility releases it.
Following that revelation and moment of conviction, I didn’t suddenly work harder.
Instead, I humbled myself and said yes to the activities God had been inviting me to devote myself to and steward. Not just out of responsibility, but as an act of devotion.
What God was refining in me in that season was discipline and self-control.
Look at that, another fruit of the spirit.
All He wanted was my willingness and obedience.
That subtle shift in mindset and behavior resulted in immediate fruit.
Within weeks, I enrolled two new clients.
Not because I was striving, hustling, or exhausting myself for results, but because I allowed God to lead me into a rhythm of discipline.
I stopped seeing my daily responsibilities as obligations and started viewing them as opportunities to partner with God.
Discipline wasn’t about forcing myself to do hard things. It became about inviting God into my areas of weakness and allowing His strength to carry me.
This is the power of humility. Not only is it pleasing to God, but it allows us to walk in self-control—another fruit of the Spirit—and step into unshakeable peace. This is the heart posture that God desires from us.
James 4:10 says, “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up.”
God not only wants us to bear good fruit, it’s one of His promises.
But oftentimes, we allow pride to get in the way. There are a few sneaky ways that pride tries to creep in (and it doesn’t always announce itself loudly).
Sometimes it slips in through subtle thoughts and actions, like:
Believing certain tasks are “beneath” you.
Refusing to ask for help because you want to appear strong.
Ignoring correction because you “know better” or “been there done that”.
Comparing your journey to others and feeling entitled to more.
These small seeds of pride can grow into barriers that block peace and prosperity.
We see it all around us in the world today.
Division in the world, governmental parties at war, relationships falling apart, leaders falling from grace, businesses crumbling under the weight of unchecked pride. Pride creates division, chaos, and unrest.
But God’s promise for His people, and us as His daughters, is peace and prosperity.
We are called to live a life of humility.
Yet, as much as we desire peace and prosperity—in our relationships, work, ministry, and home lives— we must also be willing to humble ourselves and confront what’s standing in the way. Oftentimes, that barrier is pride.
Over the years, I’ve seen this in the lives of the women I’ve coached. From entrepreneurs, seasoned business owners, and even women leaders in nonprofit and corporate spaces. No woman is exempt from this struggle.
But as a woman of God, you are called to a higher standard.
You are not called to power through and burn out.
You are not called to do it all on your own.
You are called to humble yourself before God and let Him work through you.
Where there is humility, there is an overflow of peace.
Where there is humility, there is authority and power.
Where there is humility, there is abundance and prosperity.

An Invitation to 1:1 Coaching
After a year plus of focusing solely on my family, health, wellbeing, and allowing God to refine me for this season, I am opening up space for 1:1 coaching again at the end of February for 3- and 6-month partnerships. I’m even offering a handful of accessible one-time sessions for those who aren’t ready for a long-term commitment.
In case you’re new here, I’ll share a quick lil’ backstory of how I became a coach..
(you can read more on my About page)
In 2023, I boldy pivoted from launch coaching (where I coached over 100 women entrepreneurs on their course and program launches) to life coaching.
After serving powerful women entrepreneurs over the span of 2+ years (2020-2023) as a launch coach, and several years before that as a Virtual Assistant turned Online Business Manager then Operations Director, I began to notice a trend.
Behind almost every launch plan was a deeper yearning for greater alignment. I realized I cared more about their life and well-being over their content and marketing campaigns.
Many of these women deeply desired to feel well again, have more harmony in their work life and personal life, a revival and reconciliation in their familial and most intimate relationships, a life with less stress and ultimately more joy and peace.
One with more integrity and fluidity that honored their values and goals without sacrificing their wellbeing. For many of them, whether they knew it or not, this was a call for deeper faith and a whole new way of being.
After prayer (and initially resisting God’s guidance), I said yes and pivoted. I believe that in life, there are roles we are “good” at, and there are callings we are anointed for.
For me, coaching women falls into both categories— and I LOVE it! What I love most about it? It’s not something that I can, or want to, do in my own strength.
It requires me, and the women I walk with, to surrender.
In the past, it was easy for me to learn a skill and execute. Coaching is different. It invites me to leverage my skill set, but not lean on it. I yield every session over to God and my clients willingly do the same. This is where true transformation takes place.
If you’re desiring to be supported more intimately in your faith and wellbeing this season with a guide at your side, I invite you to invite you to apply for 1:1 coaching.
My approach is holistic —considering you as a whole woman— Christ-centered, and devoted to you walking in your authority in Christ for your life and wellbeing.
Together, we’ll identify the barriers blocking the fruit of the Spirit and ways to release His promises into every area of your life. If you feel called to, I’d love to walk with you.

As always, I’m praying for you, and believing in the work God is doing in your life.
To your peace,
Zakia
Happy to find your writing here. I am a believer, too, and I am a retired counselor and recently finished a Relational Spirituality Coaching Certificate with Dr Todd Hall. I mention this only to say we have common ground. I also love helping people experience transformation, healing and growth.
Your writing was a joy to read. Happy to connect. Humility is so key. Philippians 2 was one we asked for as the focus of our message at our wedding. Christ models humility so beautifully.
